Sunday Worship Experience

This powerful message confronts a truth many of us quietly live with: we're trying to follow Jesus in our own strength, and we're exhausted. The teaching draws us into John 14, where Jesus makes an extraordinary promise before His departure—He won't leave us as orphans. Instead, He's sending the Holy Spirit, described as our Comforter, Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby. What's striking is the revelation that the Holy Spirit isn't a New Testament add-on; He's been present since Genesis 1:2, hovering over the waters at creation. The same Spirit that brought something from nothing, that raised Jesus from death, now lives in every believer. Yet how often do we treat Him like that uncomfortable relative we hope doesn't show up? The message challenges us to move beyond head knowledge to actual experience, reminding us that the birthmark of a believer is a bullseye—the enemy doesn't leave us alone after salvation. We're invited to stop confusing conviction with condemnation, to understand that when the Holy Spirit points out our sin, He's not shaming us but realigning us with God's purposes. The bone fishing story powerfully illustrates our predicament: we keep searching for what's right in front of us, but we need the Guide to help us see it. The key? John 14:15—if we love Him, we obey His commandments, AND then He sends the Spirit. It's not information we lack; it's surrender.
