What if the very thing keeping God from moving in our lives is not our circumstances, but our expectations? We explore Mark chapter 8, where Jesus returns to familiar Jewish territory only to be met not with celebration but with demands. The religious leaders, who knew scripture better than anyone, were so locked onto a predetermined picture of what God should look like that they missed the living God standing right in front of them. The sobering detail is that only about 10 percent of the miracles recorded in the Gospels took place inside the temple or synagogue. Not because Jesus avoided those places, but because those inside were not truly open to receive him. The message draws a straight line from that moment to our own gathered worship, asking us to consider whether we have developed the same kind of spiritual blind spot. Are we counting the passes and missing the gorilla? Are we so focused on how God moved before that we are missing what he is doing right now?
